"A CONTINOUS STORY "

Once again, and after forty years since he held his first exhibition, José María Casanova returns to Modus Operandi, a gallery that hosts his third solo exhibition, to present his latest project, A continuous story, in which, in the artist's own words, shows the inner dialogues that build their perception of the world.

As is usual in his sculptural work, Casanova uses the human figure to tell us about the world, about human relationships and ultimately, about the lights and shadows of the human being. But this time, the artist leaves behind traditional materials and sculptural techniques to surprise us with a set of pieces made with a 3D printer with biodegradable materials. An artist with a long career who has known how to adapt to the new times and reinvent himself, being also respectful with the environment.

Taking advantage of the possibilities offered by this technique and others that are more common in his work, such as resin or paper, the artist manages to sculpt different and unexpected forms of the human figure loaded with broad conceptual meanings. Often distorts, deconstructs, or encloses forms to reveal an emotional or physical situation, or to tell a story.

Beyond the virtuosity and dynamism of the forms and compositions that build the universe of figures that the exhibition hosts, there is the dialogue that can be established between each one of them and with the viewer, which combined with its poetic approach informs at the same time of the aesthetic and the conceptual. Concepts such as the beginning, friendship, family, mutual support, community, loneliness, exodus, work, etc. they meet together with others of greater complexity to highlight the concerns that underlie the artist's mind and present a rich landscape of figures with multiple significant contents.
