"A PROPÓSITO DEL BOSCO"
Collective exhibition

10/09/16 - 27/10/16
The earthly is appearance and madness, its beauty is deceit its happiness, fragile as glass. It deceives people and leads them astray. The doomsday is coming. The world is drawing to a close.

The artists Rafael Jiménez, Sfhir, Lotje de Lussanet and Mariko Taki-Umeoka take the Duth artist as a starting point an aspect of the work or the figure of the painter.

Seer or alchemist, catholic or heretic, Dutch or Flemish, moralist or surrealist? Five hundred years after the death of El Bosco in 1516 we still do not know who Jheronimus Bosch was, who has become the mark of one of the most emblematic, mysterious and mystified painters in history.

A minority believe that the painter suffered from loneliness and boredom or that he had to consume hallucinogens in order to capture those oneiric and surrealist images with his brush. In other words: he was a surrealist long before the representatives of this current made an appearance at the beginning of the last century as Salvador Dalí

However, others say that El Bosco did not paint things by the beauty that they had in themselves but only as symbols, references to something that was hidden beyond.
